Two individuals were observed allegedly attempting to abduct a 15-year-old girl from a bustling city center street but were thwarted by courageous members of the public. The incident was captured on CCTV on Ladypool Road in Birmingham around 4pm on Saturday. The teenage girl was walking along the street when two men approached her, grabbed her arms, and tried to force her into the back seat of a parked white Dacia. Onlookers intervened, preventing the car from leaving, allowing the girl to break free. The 15-year-old is receiving support from specialist officers, while the two men, identified as Mohammed Ali, 49, and his son Luqman Ali, 20, have been charged with kidnapping. Mohammed Ali also faces charges of false imprisonment and assault. Both suspects have been detained and were scheduled to appear before city magistrates on Monday. West Midlands Police reported a swift arrest of the suspects, noting that the girl managed to escape and seek refuge in a nearby shop. The authorities clarified that the suspects and the victim are of British Asian heritage to dispel circulating misinformation. The investigation is ongoing, and individuals with relevant information or footage are urged to contact authorities.
