“Major UK Telecoms Announce Mid-Contract Price Hikes”

Published:

Hyperoptic, a leading broadband provider, has recently announced a significant increase in mid-contract prices. Customers can expect a monthly bill rise of £4 starting from April 2026, up from the previous increase of £3.

This price adjustment will impact both new and existing customers across all Hyperoptic broadband plans. Previously, the company had expressed its opposition to annual price hikes, but it has now joined several other major telecom companies in implementing larger price increments.

In a statement back in 2023, James Fredrikson, the policy director at Hyperoptic, emphasized the company’s commitment to avoiding mid-contract price changes, stating that advertised prices should remain consistent throughout the contract term.

On a similar note, Sky Mobile has notified the majority of its customers about a forthcoming £1.50 monthly bill increase effective from February 14, 2026. This adjustment marks the first price modification for in-contract customers by Sky Mobile in over seven years.

Additionally, O2 has informed nearly all mobile and SIM-only contract subscribers about a £2.50 monthly mobile bill rise starting in April 2026, surpassing the initially planned £1.80 increment.

For Three mobile customers opting for data plans of 4GB or lower, a monthly price hike of £1.80 will come into effect from April 2026, representing an 80p increase compared to the current £1 increment. Customers with data plans ranging from 4GB to 100GB will face a £1.90 monthly increase, while those with over 100GB will experience a £2.30 rise.

Moreover, Three broadband users will see their bills surge by £3.50 monthly from April 2026. Vodafone mobile customers who sign up for deals after November 12 will witness a £2.50 monthly bill increase, while Basics SIM plan subscribers will face a £1.50 rise.

Vodafone broadband customers are also set to encounter a monthly price hike of £3.50. Existing customers of Vodafone and Three with active contracts will continue to pay the agreed-upon amount.

If you find yourself out of contract, it may be beneficial to review your current mobile and broadband expenses to ensure you are not overpaying. Consider comparing prices online, evaluating your actual usage of minutes and data, and potentially negotiating with your provider for better rates. Additionally, individuals receiving benefits should explore eligibility for discounted social tariffs to reduce costs.
