“Teens on Trial for Gang Rape and Arson of Teacher”

Published:

A group of adolescents are currently undergoing trial for allegedly engaging in a gang rape incident and subsequently setting fire to the apartment of a teacher. The seven teenagers, ranging in age from 14 to 17, are accused of perpetrating a series of abuses against the 28-year-old teacher from May 2024 to January 2025. They reportedly used footage of the assaults to blackmail the teacher.

The situation unfolded after the teacher entered into a consensual relationship with a 17-year-old former student who had left the school. Once the student shared details of the relationship with friends, the group of boys began frequenting the teacher’s residence, claiming affiliation with a criminal organization.

The youths allegedly coerced their way into the teacher’s home by threatening to expose the relationship if she did not comply. Initially, the teacher’s residence was used for drug consumption, but the situation escalated dramatically thereafter.

Originating from Iraq, Romania, and Afghanistan, the gang purportedly subjected the teacher to individual and group sexual assaults, while also extorting money from her for basic necessities. The group recorded the assaults and threatened to distribute the footage within her school unless their demands were met, even using a purported pregnancy test image to intimidate her.

Fearful of losing her job, the teacher endured months of abuse in silence, including theft of personal belongings and money. In January 2025, three members of the group, aged 14 and 15, allegedly broke into her flat and stole valuables before setting fire to the apartment in an attempt to conceal evidence.

Although the defendants admitted to some offenses, including theft and drug-related activities, they denied intentionally starting the fire and vehemently refuted the sexual violence charges, claiming the interactions were consensual. The prosecution asserted that the group, part of a larger gang with around 70 to 80 members, engaged in criminal activities online, as evidenced by digital records showing a pattern of intimidation.

The trial, set to resume on October 15, with verdicts expected by October 20, will continue to shed light on the troubling allegations. If you have experienced sexual assault, support and resources are available through www.rapecrisis.org.uk or by contacting the national helpline at 0808 802 9999.
