“Ukrainian ‘Ghost’ Team Takes Down Russian Radar & Missile Sites”

Published:

A special Ukrainian military unit known as the “ghost” team has successfully taken down two significant Russian radar stations and a missile launcher platform in the eastern Donbas region, as reported by the Mirror. This clandestine drone operation, named ‘ghost’ due to its undetectable nature by Russia, penetrated enemy lines to target the Podlet low-altitude radars and a 9A82 missile launcher, aiming to impede Russian advancements in the area.

The elimination of the anti-aircraft defense system not only creates opportunities for Ukraine to launch more impactful assaults on Russia’s industrial and energy facilities but also signifies a strategic move to hinder Russian progression in the region. Additionally, a Russian troop-carrying truck was destroyed in a drone strike carried out by Ukrainian special forces units diverting Moscow’s troops from their frontline offensives.

Ukraine’s intelligence agencies consider the destruction of the troop-carrier as an unexpected success, as it was only discovered during the drone attack on the weapons sites. Meanwhile, amidst reports of Russian troops entering the besieged eastern city of Pokrovsk, Kyiv refuted claims that its forces are ‘surrounded,’ denouncing them as misinformation.

The ongoing conflict in the region intensifies as the city of Pokrovsk faces potential occupation, posing a strategic gateway for Russia to expand its incursions into Ukraine despite international calls for a peaceful resolution. The UN highlights Russian drone teams targeting civilians to force them out of their homes in eastern regions, with Ukraine’s special unit Prymary (“Ghosts”) taking credit for the recent attack.

Although the exact location of the recent “ghost” unit operation remains undisclosed, it was executed in the occupied Donbas region, targeting the S-300V anti-aircraft system crucial for safeguarding military and industrial sites from aerial threats. Ukraine’s recent focus on dismantling Russia’s ground-to-air defense systems aims to weaken Moscow’s industrial infrastructure, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stating that Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries have significantly reduced Moscow’s oil refining capacity.

The economic impact of the conflict is apparent as oil exports play a pivotal role in funding Russia’s military operations in Ukraine. As Ukraine intensifies its efforts to disrupt Putin’s financial resources through targeting energy exports, the international community imposes sanctions to undermine Moscow’s revenue streams. Despite diplomatic efforts for a peace deal, the prolonged conflict persists with no immediate resolution in sight.

With the Kremlin’s reluctance to negotiate, U.S. President Donald Trump escalated tensions by announcing impending sanctions against Russian oil giants Rosneft and Lukoil. These sanctions, set to take effect soon, are anticipated to influence dialogue between the U.S. and Russia. Notably, countries like China and India, major buyers of Russian oil, have shown signs of reducing energy imports from Russia, indicating a broader impact on Moscow’s economic stability.

The disruption of Russia’s energy sector stands at the core of Ukraine’s military strategy, aiming to undermine Putin’s financial capacity to sustain the ongoing conflict effectively. Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence and armed forces have been actively targeting high-value Russian radar and missile systems both within occupied territories and inside Russia, showcasing a series of successful operations in recent weeks. The “Ghosts” unit continues to demonstrate prowess by neutralizing key defense assets, contributing to the weakening of Russian infrastructure.
