“Darth Vader Lightsaber up for Auction at Record Price”

Published:

A lightsaber featuring Luke Skywalker’s severed hand from the movie “The Empire Strikes Back” was recently sold at auction for a record-breaking price of $3.75 million. This sale marked the highest amount ever paid for a prop used in any “Star Wars” film.

Now, another iconic lightsaber is set to go under the hammer. The lightsaber wielded by Darth Vader during the pivotal duel in Cloud City, where the famous revelation “I am your father” was made to Skywalker, will be a key highlight at the upcoming Ultimate Star Wars Auction by Heritage Auctions scheduled for November 12.

Expected to fetch at least $1 million, the Darth Vader lightsaber was also featured in “Return of the Jedi” and is one of over twenty lightsaber props that will be available for bidding. The auction will encompass lightsabers from various “Star Wars” episodes along with props from other productions within the expansive George Lucas-created universe.

Noteworthy items up for auction include the lightsabers used by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in “Revenge of the Sith,” each anticipated to sell for a minimum of $10,000. Additionally, an EE-3 carbine blaster used by Boba Fett in “The Empire Strikes Back” is estimated to fetch over $100,000.

Among the unique pieces are a Yoda puppet hand utilized by Frank Oz in the character’s debut in “The Empire Strikes Back,” Anthony Daniels’ signed, personal third-draft screenplay of the original 1977 “Star Wars,” and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
