Israeli Airstrike Kills 3-Year-Old in Gaza

Published:

An Israeli military airstrike in the central Gaza Strip on Sunday resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians, including a three-year-old child, as reported by health officials. The strike, near a bakery in Deir al-Balah, claimed the lives of Tayyem Hamdan, 3, and Hussam Nusair, alongside several others who were injured.

According to Gaza medics, the Israeli military targeted and eliminated a Hamas militant, Nusair, who was allegedly involved in attacks against Israeli forces and civilians. Hamas has not provided an immediate response to the military’s claim.

Despite a U.S.-backed ceasefire last October that paused major conflict in the region, Israeli military actions have persisted, aiming to prevent attacks by Hamas and other Gaza militants. Hamas has accused Israel of breaching the ceasefire and hindering the implementation of a broader plan by U.S. President Donald Trump to resolve the Gaza conflict, which includes Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.

Since the ceasefire was enacted last October, more than 1,300 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza, as reported by Gazan health officials, while the Israeli military has confirmed the deaths of four Israeli soldiers.
